“A Partnership of Love”
Jun-Lilys Meat Products, owned by Mrs. Liberty G. Fajardo, started in 1993 selling fresh and processed meat products in Calumpit Public Market. Products include longganisa, tocino and chicharon. To add variety and capitalize on the increasing popularity of Longganisang Calumpit, the husband and wife tandem decided to sell Calumpit Longganisa in garlic and sweet flavors on 2008. According to Mrs. Fajardo, the recipe was from her mother’s homemade longganisa that was being served during family dinner. Jun-Lily enhanced the recipe and add flavors/variants to suit the new generation’s taste buds. Jun and Lily as business partners had their contribution in business operation. Jun is in charge of the operation particularly on cleanliness, safety and packaging, while Lily is in charge of quality control of ingredients and products for delivery. Jun-Lily’s uses fresh handpicked “Bawang-Tagalog” and fresh pork pige and kasim in making longganisa.
Initially, Jun-Lily were only producing 10 kilograms of longganisa during regular days. And 20 kilos during holiday season. A few years had passed, they were able to produced 30-50 kilos everyday.
A big break came in 2017, when a pasalubong store owner in Marilao placed an initial order of 100 kilos of longganisa and continuous to order regularly. According to Mam Lily, a pasalubong center staff bought longganisa in three different stalls of longganisa makers in Calumpit where the owner selected that suits her taste. Luckily, Jun-Lilys Meat Products was chosen. As part of the requirements of the pasalubong center, legal documents and FDA – LTO needs to be complied. Thus, they invested to build a processing site besides their residential home at #30 Purok 4, Iba O Este, Calumpit, Bulacan. Consequently, employment of relatives and friends in the community was increased.
Mr. & Mrs. Jun Fajardo, never stops in improving their business by attending seminars and joining marketing activities of DTI. Jun-Lily’s Meat Products see the need to join the OTOP Next Gen for packaging development and Likha ng Central Luzon Trade Fair 2019 to increase market coverage. The partnership during Likha resulted to more number of buyers and consumers. Jun-Lily’s is now making a name around Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Bataan, Zambales and Baguio City.
