Catholic Servants of Christ Community Multipurpose Cooperative (CASECHCOM MPC) is a transformation of CASECHCOM Village Bank. It was organized in 1993 and registered on May 14, 1998, which aims to help members to uplift their status of living. CASECHCOM MPC was registered with Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) under Re-Reg. No. 9520-03002763 and confirmed by CIN – 0106030126. As of this date, CASECHCOM MPC is still serving 984 members, with eight (8) competent full-time staff in lending, two (2) employees in CASECHCOM Foods, and 15 (fifteen) in CASECHCOM School. The cooperative wish to grant some other needs of its members like the machinery that will enhance the vegetable and fruit products to retain their quality or process it as an additional product in our CASECHCOM Foods.
At present CASECHCOM Foods successfully developed and made two (2) products. It was released last 2009 in the market and regularly consume by the public not only in our community but also in nearby towns.
The first product is called “Coco Jam” or the Coconut Sap Spread. This product is usually prepared by cooking coconut milk and sugar to a very thick consistency at low heat with constant stirring. We also use brown sugar or muscovado sugar as a sweetener to make it taste the same as the traditional spread a long time ago. There are two flavors of coco jam the plain and the coco jam with pili nuts.
The second product is the “Pili Brittle”. This product is made of brown sugar and pili which are native to tropical countries in Southeast Asia like the Philippines, the pili nut (pronounced ‘peeley’) is often labeled the world’s hardest nut to crack. It also comes as a surprise to many that this tear-shaped fruit has lots of extraordinary health benefits. Some even claim it’s the most nutritious nut of all. Pili trees are mostly found in the Southern part of Luzon, particularly in the Bicol Region. We purchase pili nuts straight from the farmers of Bicol. It is our own simple way to support local products and local farmers here in our country.
As of now, CASECHCOM Foods continues to develop, innovate, and revive traditional products. Our aim is to introduce again to the public some of our childhood favorite classic delicacies and desserts that are unknown now to the new generation.
